HDM Co-Founders among Entrepreneur of the Year Finalists For Immediate Release
Cambridge, MA ... Judges have selected 41 finalists for the New England Entrepreneur of the Year (EOY) awards program, co-sponsored by Ernst & Young, Inc. Magazine and Merrill Lynch. Kija Kim and James Aylward, co-founders of Harvard Design and Mapping Company, Inc. (HDM), a high-tech computer mapping company used for private and public industry based in Cambridge, is among the EOY finalist. HDM was founded in 1988 with less than $10,000 in capital and without any existing customer base. From its modest beginning, it has grown rapidly and is on the cutting edge of its technology. HDM has applied this technology to projects such as a nation-wide flood hazard mapping system, an environmental emergency response plan and analysis of a high-speed rail corridor from New York to Boston. Kim was included as one of five outstanding minority business leaders in Fortune Magazine. She has also been a keynote speaker and panelist at several events around the country. Kim also accompanied Governor Weld on an Asian trade mission, and has met with Vice President Al Gore to discuss the Clinton Administration's economic stimulus package.
