Cambridge, MA ... Ms. Kija Kim, President of Harvard design & Mapping Co., Inc., has been appointed by Massachusetts Governor William Weld to serve as Vice-Chair on the Minority Business Enterprise Oversight Committee. Established in 1984, the Committee addresses issues concerning minority participation in state contracts and purchases, making recommendations and offering insights to the Governor on promoting minority and woman owned businesses in the Commonwealth.

As a minority and woman entrepreneur, Ms. Kim is an active participant in and public service and community affairs. Other appointments by Governor Weld include an appointment as co-chair to the Welfare to Work Commission, an advisory group focusing on issues related to job opportunities for welfare recipients, and participation on the Asian American Commission, which advises on the Governor on issues concerning Asian American communities in Massachusetts.

Frequently recognized for her achievement in business and public service, Ms. Kim was recognized by the YWCA Boston's Academy of Women Achievers for her outstanding accomplishments and leadership, and received the "Woman in Business Leadership" Award from the New England Council in 1995. Her company, HDM provides geographic information systems (GIS) services and computer mapping application software development and integration to government agencies and private corporations.
