President Bush at FEMA September 2005

September 26, 2005 ... For over twelve years, HDM has provided GIS support for FEMA's flood mapping program. Now, following the devastation of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, HDM has once again responded to FEMA's needs for GIS expertise.

HDM staff is working round the clock with FEMA staff at the Mapping Analysis Center (MAC) to provide essential GIS and mapping services. Maps are being developed that provide vital information on the extent of damage. FEMA management and staff use this data to distribute resources and coordinate with other federal and state agencies and organizations. HDM is a subcontractor to Michael Baker Engineering for this effort.

HDM is proud to help support the efforts of FEMA following these catastrophic events. To view hurricane-related maps produced at the MAC, visit http://www.gismaps.fema.gov/ and to learn more about flood zones in your neighborhood, visit the HDM developed site http://www.hazardmaps.gov/atlas.php.
